Let’s Talk Tactics

This band is the newest one I have reviewed. They only formed seven months as they all attend the Academy of Contemporary Music University in Guildford and met there. They have a unique sound and although they have only been playing together for seven months on Myspace they have already 66,404 plays of their songs altogether and have a total of 3179 friends

On their Myspace page they have stated that they are aiming to “combine the power of Pendulum, the attitude of Enter Shikari and the ingenuity of The Klaxons”. They describe their music as electro rock and I think that is a good description of the genre of music as they use a combination of a synthesiser and electric guitar to create a unique sound which is heard throughout their songs.

They are due to release their first E.P “Advanced Preview” later this year!

The Pirate Ship Quintet

This band is quite different from all the others I have reviewed, they are from London, Bristol and Bournemouth. Their sound is very unique.In the song, “I kina spiser de hund” the tone varies and thorughout the song, which is purely instrumental with the exception to one scream, the song goes from hard rock sound to a classical intrumental sound. This continues to swap and change thoughout this song and gives the song an air of unease and imbalance.

Page 44

Ok, so this is another band which is close to my main favourite genre, indie pop. But, the discopvery of thi band was not on purpose, they added me a while back and I thought I would looking into the bands that have randomly added me in the past.

Page 44′ sound is a mixture of pop, rock and indie. They have a few gigs lined up for June/July time and I reccommend you check them out.

Interview with Black Bart

I caught up with Rob Joy, lead guitarist from Black Bart to ask a few questions about the band to find out more about who they are and what they are about.

how did you come up with the name Black Bart?

Black Bart (the name) was devised by one current and one former member of the band. He/It is several things. Most notably, in our case, a highwayman, Charles Boles, who decided to give up business in England and head out to America to rob stage coaches, leaving poetry at the scene of most of his crimes.

Only retrospectively did this name and story become fitting with the Americana influences on the sound we have taken up.

Interview with Royal Males

After writing the review of the Royal Males I managed to get in contact with them and I caught up with one of the guitarists, Josh Scarratt to find out more about the band.

Liz Cass

I got such a good result with Unclecon that I thought I would search within a different genre on www.imgifted.com. I am really enjoying this site as I can access all sorts of new unsigned music whom could make it big in the future but are at the moment are unknown by many!

I heard this singer and instantly took a liking to her. The first song of hers I listened to; “enough” is classed a R & B which is different from her usual genre which is Jazz,but is still really good. Whilst listening to the majority of her jazz songs she reminded me of

Milqud

This time I thought I would take the advice of a friend and look up one of her local bands. 

Milqud is made up of three guys from Bury St Edmonds, and if you imagine a cross between Green day and Panic! at the disco you will have an idea what these guys sound like! Although they are currently unsigned they seem to be making a name for themselves

Unclecon

This time I thought I would find new music from a different source on the internet. So, I typed in “Undiscovered Music” into google and the first site that came up is imgifted.com which is a site where unsigned bands and singers promote themselves and their music. The genre I chose to review is easy listening, a change from the previous pop singer I reviewed.

The first easy listening singer I found was a guy who calls himself Unclecon. He is from Glasgow and at the moment only tours pubs and venues around Glasgow. The songs which are featured on the site are acoustic and the sound quality isn’t great but it is good enough to show the quality of his voice and the slight scottish accent he uses whilst singing which adds more life to the songs and adds to the personal level which these songs are!

Anathema

Ok, so the first band I picked was at random on Myspace.I merely clicked on unsigned bands and then on experimental as I thought I would try something different and the genre just seemed to fit with what I wanted for the first review!

The first band on there was from America and I think for now I want to stick to British bands so I clicked on another one and this is how I found Anathema!!
